Yesterday, my best friend since middle school celebrated her birthday with a gorgeous, glamorous night on the town in New York City with a gaggle of close friends in tow. She looked spectacular and we all had a blast sipping champagne and dancing throughout the night. Since she and I have been friends for so long, it feels silly to give her anything other than a homemade card, with as much sparkle and dazzle as her personality. I made this one with Martha Stewart's glitter glue pen and some handcrafted drawings of cupcakes (because what else represents a birthday better than cupcakes?). Happy birthday to my best friend LaVon!
Whether spread across a toasted baguette or a dollop atop pancakes in the morning, good jam goes a long way. Over the summer, I learned how effortless homemade jam can be and became addicted to jarring my own batches. I wrote about my favorite recipe for homemade raspberry jalapeño jam for the Martha Stewart Living blog this week. Read my post here and follow my recipe, below, to make your own homemade jam!
Raspberry Jalapeño Jam
Combine the raspberries and chopped pepper into a food processor. Blend until the mixture is smooth. Transfer to a large saucepan and add the sugar, pectin, and lemon juice. Cook over medium-high until the jam has thickened. Remove from pan and let cool. Store in a sterilized jar and refrigerate.
